ABOUT LORI

Backtrack over 12 years ago. Lori completed her Bachelor's degree in Science at the University of Guelph in her home province of Ontario, Canada. During this time, she had the greatest opportunity working as an exercise physiologist and rehab-based pilates instructor for a distinguished private practice physiotherapy company called Eramosa Physiotherapy Associates (EPA). This is where her first introduction and curiosity to pelvic health began.

Her love for the sun, Australian accents and the reputation of the University of Queensland's physiotherapy program brought Lori to Brisbane where she completed her Graduate Entry Masters in Physiotherapy Studies in 2004.

After gaining experience, this time as a physiotherapist back with EPA, Lori returned to Brisbane working as a private practice physiotherapist and rehab-based pilates instructor. Soon she found her passion in researching and teaching pregnancy and postnatal clients, which lead her on a great journey of education in the field of Continence and Women's Health.

Along with upkeeping her skills in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy, Lori completed numerous advanced courses within the pelvic health field. This is where she developed a deep clinical interest in helping patients who were suffering with persistent pelvic pain, as well as balancing pelvic floor dysfunctions within fitness and sport. It became apparent at this time that not only women (young and old) suffered in silence with pelvic dysfunctions, but also men...and even more silently. She continues to regularly attend pelvic health post graduate education courses and conferences, as well as keeping up to date with current research as a self-directed, somewhat nerdy, passion. Check out some of her articles, videos and links to her podcast here.

Lori sat as a board member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association’s Continence and Women’s Health committee 6 years, including the position of co-Chair of the committee in 2016.  She is also a member of the Women's Health Training Associates since its commencement, provides articles and lectures for allied health professionals, and educates the community on pelvic health.

In 2017, Lori started her adventure into obtaining her PhD in the field of pelvic floor health from the University of Queensland. In the midst of all this study and work, she still enjoys finding and sharing great information and humour within the pelvic health world. Be sure to check out her Facebook and Twitter feeds and of course her podcast, The Pelvic Health Podcast.
