Measuring vaginal pressures with Dr. Jennifer Kruger

Dr Jennifer Kruger is a Senior Research Fellow at the Auckland Bioengineering Institute, University of Auckland. She leads the Pelvic Floor Research group, where the focus of the research is pelvic floor muscle function and dysfunction in women. She is experienced in co-ordinating diverse experts, maintaining focus and delivering technology founded on basic science through changing clinical practice. She has over fifteen years of clinical experience in nursing and midwifery and brings both a clinical and bioinstrumentation development understanding to the problem, having held a Rutherford Foundation and Aoteoroa Postdoctoral Fellowship at the ABI since 2010. She is currently one of the Principle investigators on an Endeavour Programme Grant investigating “Smart sensors for the medical industry’. She has published in a wide range of peer reviewed journals, contributed to six book chapters, and presented at more than 36 conferences over the past five years. She has been an invited speaker at several international forums on pelvic floor health and is currently a member of the scientific committee of the International Continence Society. Presently she is focused on developing instrumentation to measure the vaginal pressure profile, and investigate how this information will help women manage their pelvic floor health.
In this episode, she gives us insight into the development of the latest pressure transducer and how it will help women in the future, as well as her thoughts on IAP in exercise.
